At our clinic, we offer a range of different variations of peel treatments that we offer to our clients. Each one performs a different activity and a different purpose. So, in this blog, we will be taking all things peels and going through the different variations that we offer in order for you to identify which sounds more suited to you.
What is a peel?
A chemical peel is a solution that is applied to the face to remove dead skin cells and stimulate the growth of new cells. The purpose of this treatment is to improve the appearance of the skin by reducing age spots as well as evens out of the skin tone.
Generally, there are 3 types of skin peels called, superficial, medium and deep. The superficial variation is designed to remove the outer layer of the skin called the epidermis. This type of peel is best for getting rid of fine lines, acne, uneven skin tone and even dryness. You can this type of treatment as often as every 2-5 weeks depending on what end result you want.
Medium peels are designed to remove dead skin cells from the epidermis and parts of the upper section of the middle layer of skin, called the dermis. These medium depth chemical peels are also proven to help wrinkles, acne scars as well as skin tone. People tend to have these only every 3-9 months in order to maintain results.
The deep chemical peel again removes dead skin cells from the epidermis and from the lower layer of your dermis. If you struggle with stubborn fine lines, scars or precancerous growths, this deeper level of treatment could be the best solution for you. This type of peel you only have once as it can affect the deeper layers of skin, as these results are more permanent.
